At a glance

  • No account, no sign-in, no personal profile. Naymsake (名字有料) never asks for your name, email, phone number, or any other contact detail.
  • Your favorites and searches stay on the device. Saved names and your search history are stored locally on your iPhone. TechnicolorLife LLC has no server that holds them and no way to read them.
  • Pronunciation happens on the device. The "American pronunciation" feature uses Apple's built-in text-to-speech. Nothing is recorded, and no audio leaves the device.
  • Sharing is something you start. Cards are rendered on your device. They are only saved to Photos or sent to another app (such as Instagram) when you tap to do so.
  • Analytics are anonymous and minimal. We use TelemetryDeck to count basic, anonymous usage events (such as "a card was viewed") so we can improve the app. No personal data, no contact details, and none of the text you type is ever sent.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your information. Not with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else. Ever.

1. Who this policy is from

Naymsake (名字有料, "the App") is made by TechnicolorLife LLC ("we," "us," or "TechnicolorLife"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is handled, and what your rights are.

2. What Naymsake is

Naymsake is an entertainment and reference app for Traditional-Chinese speakers. It explains how an English name reads to native English speakers — its generational feel, social register, memes, and pronunciation — and offers a Chinese-to-English generational name cross-reference. The name content is curated by us from public United States Social Security Administration baby-name data and other public sources. The App has no account, no advertising, and (at launch) no in-app purchases or communication features.

3. Information the App handles

Below is every category of data the App handles and where it lives.

3.1 Favorites and search history (stored on the device only)

When you save a name to your collection, or search for a name, the App stores that locally in its private storage on your device (using iOS UserDefaults). This data never leaves the device, is not sent to any TechnicolorLife server, and is removed by iOS when the App is uninstalled. There is no account and no profile; this information belongs to the device, not to an identity.

3.2 Saving and sharing cards (you initiate it)

The App can turn a name card into an image. Saving that image requires your permission to add to your photo library (the App only adds images; it never reads your existing photos). Sharing sends the image, at your request, through Apple's standard share sheet or directly to Instagram Stories. Once an image leaves the App through a share action, it is handled by the app or service you chose and by that party's own privacy policy.

3.3 Text-to-speech (on device)

When you tap the speaker button, the App uses Apple's built-in speech synthesis to pronounce the name in American English. This happens entirely on the device. The App does not use the microphone, does not record audio, and sends nothing to any server for this feature.

3.4 Anonymous analytics (TelemetryDeck)

The App uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand in aggregate how the App is used — for example, how many name cards are viewed or how often the share feature is used. TelemetryDeck is designed to contain no personal data: identifiers are irreversibly hashed on the device before anything is sent, no advertising identifier (IDFA) is used, and TechnicolorLife cannot identify any individual user or device from these signals.

The only signals the App sends are basic events such as "app launched," "card viewed," "search performed (whether a result was found)," "name added to or removed from favorites," and "card shared." Some of these events include the English name of the card involved (for example, "KAREN") — these are fixed catalogue items, not information about you. We never send your name, contact details, location, the free text you type into search, audio, or any other content from the device. Signals are transmitted over HTTPS and processed by TelemetryDeck in the European Union. If the device is offline, the App simply works without sending anything.

3.5 Nothing else

The App does not collect or request: name, email, phone number, contacts, camera, microphone, precise or coarse location, advertising identifiers, health data, or browsing history. The App contains no third-party advertising SDKs and no social-media login integrations.

4. Children's privacy

Naymsake is a general-audience entertainment app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. In any case, the App collects no personal information from anyone (see Section 3). If you are a parent or guardian and have a concern, contact us at privacy@technicolorlife.app.

5. How information is used

  • To save and display your favorited names and recent searches on the device.
  • To render a shareable image when you choose to save or share a card.
  • To understand, in aggregate and anonymously via TelemetryDeck, which features are used so we can improve the App.

We do not use any data for advertising, profiling, training machine-learning models, selling to third parties, or any purpose beyond what is described in this policy.

6. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction where GDPR or an equivalent law applies, the legal bases for processing are:

  • Performance of a contract — storing favorites and searches locally so the App can function.
  • Legitimate interests — minimal, anonymous, aggregated usage analytics. We have assessed that the de-identified nature of TelemetryDeck signals is not outweighed by users' privacy interests; you can opt out by blocking telemetrydeck.com on your network or using the App offline.

7. Your rights

Because the App keeps everything on the device, most rights are exercised directly without contacting us:

  • Right to access — open the App; your favorites and the names you've viewed are all visible inside the App.
  • Right to erasure — uninstall the App and iOS deletes all locally stored favorites, searches, and settings.
  • Right to object / opt out of analytics — use the App offline or block telemetrydeck.com at the network level; the App is fully functional without any connection.
  • Right to lodge a complaint — if you believe we have handled data improperly, you may contact your local data protection authority.

8. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

TechnicolorLife does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and does not collect personal information through this App. There is nothing to opt out of because nothing is collected, sold, or shared for advertising or profiling.

9. Security

  • Favorites and search data are stored in iOS's encrypted application sandbox and benefit from device-level encryption when a passcode is set.
  • Analytics signals are transmitted over HTTPS/TLS and contain no personal data by design.
  • There is no TechnicolorLife server holding user data, which removes the most common breach risk entirely.

10. International data transfer

Your favorites and searches never leave the device, so there is no cross-border transfer of that data. Anonymous TelemetryDeck signals are processed in the European Union; see their privacy policy for details.

11. Data retention

Favorites and searches stay on the device until you remove them or uninstall the App. TelemetryDeck retains anonymous signals according to its own retention policy, and those signals cannot be tied back to any individual.

12. App Tracking Transparency

The App does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and does not integrate any advertising SDK. No App Tracking Transparency prompt is needed because no tracking occurs.

13. Third-party services

  • TelemetryDeck — anonymous, aggregated usage analytics. See their privacy policy.
  • Apps you share to — when you choose to share or save a card, the destination (for example, Instagram, or any app in the iOS share sheet) handles that image under its own privacy policy. We do not control those services.

We have no other third-party processors. We do not use advertising, marketing automation, or social login SDKs.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy over time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes — especially any change to what data is handled — we will give clear notice on technicolorlife.com before they take effect.
